Randy Graves comes to the Rock Lab teaching staff with over thirty years of experience working in the recording industry. In addition to producing dozens of projects and albums for artists in genres from rock and pop to country and classical opera, he also composed, recorded performed and produced all of the prog-rock band Kalaban’s four albums, including “Resistance Is Useless” which won Europe’s “Best Progressive Rock” album of 1994.

His career in music bridges the skills of songwriting, orchestration, performing, recording, mixing, mastering and production. These musical accomplishments  are accompanied by technical audio expertise, embodied in his electronic designs of various microphone  preamps, multi-channel recording mixers and high performance modifications for vintage tube guitar amplifiers.

Rachel Ker, this year’s winner of the Scera Shell Celebrity Idol competition, is “the most energetic vocalist you’ve ever seen, hands down.” The energy she brings to the floor (literally, as she often jumps off the stage and dances with the crowd) is infectious. But this mother of two boys is more than just a dynamic performer. Her vocal chops are impeccable. She has enough grit to sing rock and roll and can then switch it up into a smooth, velvety ballad.

Rachel has been performing in front of audiences since the age of 10.  She performs regularly with her own party and dance band called No Limits.  She also sings back-up and lead in the Greg Simpson Band.  Her list of performances include opening for Diamond Rio at the Scera Shell Theater, opening for Jason Hewlett, opening for Nathan Osmond at Bluffdale City Days,  the Freedom Festival in Provo,  Franklin County Fair in Preston, ID, almost every county fair in the state of Utah (too many to list them all. ;-) ), Afton, Wyoming Demolition Derby,  First Night in Provo, National Lifeguard Competition in Pacific Beach, San Diego Street Scenes/Blues Fest, Beachfest at Pacific Beach where she opened the festivities by singing the national anthem, 2002 Olympic Torch Run at the Provo Towne Center Mall, County Fair at Thanksgiving Point, Springville Art City Days, Cancer Walks in Springville, Orem, and Brigham City, The Center in Provo, Latino Days in Provo, the Galavan Center in Salt Lake, the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City,  not to mention countless weddings, private parties, and major corporate events.

We are now Dave Wilbur’s Rock Lab!
